 Spencer and Emily have been on the Jinja Team since October of 2004. Both Emily and Spencer felt a desire to be involved in ministry in the developing world long before their arrival in Uganda.
Spencer is now working as the Water Source Ministry project manager, and he is also meeting weekly with local church leaders with the prayerful hope of developing and encouraging a contextual reading of the Bible that leads to the churchs involvement as the body of Jesus Christ in the midst of the many social issues that concern the people of Busoga. Spencer was raised in a Christian family, attending the Quail Spring Church of Christ with Ben Langford, who is now his teammate here in Jinja. Throughout Spencer's life, God has guided him through many academic and ministry experiences that have shaped him for mission work: at Pepperdine University as a Youth and Campus Ministry intern, to youth ministry at Round Rock Church of Christ in Round Rock, TX, and during graduate school at Austin Presbyterian Seminary, where he obtained his Master of Divinity in 2003.
Emily ministers to the many people who come to our home for assistance and health related issues, and she works in the villages on Saturdays, together with her teammates and with Ida Bazonoona, teaching health and ministry lessons to the women in the churches throughout Busoga. Emily was born and raised in Austin, TX and traces her spiritual roots to her family and the Round Rock Church of Christ. In July 1998, she went on a mission trip to Romania, which planted a desire in her heart for mission work. Emily completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas in 2002. Spencer and Emily were married in January 2003 and together felt led to Jinja.
On July 11, 2007 Spencer and Emily were blessed with the amazing gift of their son, Adam Nile Bogle, who was born in Kampala, the Capitol City of Uganda. Adam is full of life, loves being outside, and brings an indescribable amount of joy to our family and to those around him.
